Day to Day Survival SkillsThere are a lot of things a person, specifically a woman, needs to know how to do on her own, with out the help of a man or another person. As I've been seeing lately, a lot of people don't have basic survival training for day to day life..... don't know:
1. how to fix a flat tire 2. how to stop the toilet water from running when its over flowing 3. how to work a thermostat 4. how to hand wash dishes 5. how to change the lock/knob on a door These are things you NEED to know how to do. Regardless if you are married or with someone who can do it for you, one day you will be home alone or alone driving home from a shopping spree at Target, with no one who is able to come to your rescue and you will wish you had figured out how to change that flat tire. I'm going to attempt to give some tutorials on certain things that are necessities to know! |
Gluten Free Living
Lately I've been having some very serious stomach pain and issues where anything I eat seems to go straight thru me, but on its way out, sits in the pit of my stomach and jabs pointy forks in my stomach and all the way thru my GI tract... Its gotten annoying, and frankly is wearing me out.
A friend's mother has Celiacs Disease and was saying that just the few things I mention that seems to bug me are a lot of things on her list of foods she can't eat. So I'm looking online trying to find different foods that are Gluten Free (GF) and surprisingly, I will be able to keep drinking pop, coffee is going to be a case by case.... For shits and giggles I'm going to try going GF for a week... (because its extremely expensive... it does worry me..) and see if I notice a difference in my stomach issues... One of my greatest concerns besides money is that I'm not going to be able to be go out to eat with friends or family, Since I already have a tree-nut allergy, it really worries me that my OK foods list is going to get 10x shorter.... Its kind of over whelming to think that I will have to learn all new habits. Of course, label checking is something I already do, but a GF life style (because i HATE the word diet) is going to be a BIG change... I'll have to keep you guys updated on my findings!
I've found a lot of helpful sites that have GF options and what is ok and not ok to eat which I have shared below in links.

One Way To Deal With My Current Living Situation...

A good friend of mine understands that I live with a story teller.... Just a couple of the GREAT ones I've heard so far include:
SO from now on when I hear a story, instead of pretending to listen... I will be taking this guys advice and getting overly invested in each story.... as far as she is concerned. Bitches be crazy!! |
Classy St. Patricks Day Outfit....
In all attempts to not dress like a leprechaun for a St. Pattys party tonight (being that it is being held by the rotary...) I have been in search of different ideas and ways to not dress like a skanky high schooler.... Every outfit I'm seeing online is of a size -3 girl wearing a mini skirt with thigh high socks, high heels and a fairly low, boob pushing out shirt..
(see picture -->)
If this was a party that was being thrown in a college dorm, I could understand dressing that way.... However, I will be in attendance with some of the most respected people in Rosemount, MN and will be representing my family as well as the city my dad works for.
SO the rules:
1. One Drink.... Maybe Half since I'm a light weight
2. No Jokes!
3. Listen.... Try not to talk
4. Political talks.... walk the other way
5. Dress conservatively.... Almost everyone who will be there tonight is 40+, Married and some sort of business owner/city official
6. Have I mentioned.... one drink?
Then again, I don't want to dress like a 40 year old... I did that for far to long as a teenager (yea i wore clothes from christopher and banks all through middle school because a lot of clothes weren't big enough)
So I am off to a couple thrift stores, a party city and possibly Target to find an age appropriate, conservative, classy, tasteful st. patricks day outfit....
WISH ME LUCK!

Preparation....
Another New Years resolution I gave to myself was to starting eating healthier...
Not religiously, because me and diets don't get along...
I tend to cheat on them and not follow through.
But I decided to see how it went for a week having prepared healthier snacks to bring to work.
I have broccoli, carrot chips, red grapes, ranch dip and strawberry greek yogurt as potential sides to a SoyNutButter and Jelly OR hard salami sandwich.
SOOO we'll see how long I can pull this off, but I'm hoping to see a difference by the time I move in May....
Crossin my fingers that I am able to find these more appetizing then donuts/chips/cookies.....

HUNGER GAMES!!!So I'm a HUGE hunger games fan... as well as divergent series and many more (look in favorites for different titles I suggest for dystopian-like series/books!) The first hunger games movie.... was amazing. They did skip a lot of important details but were able to make the movie as close to the book as possible with out having to make the movie as long as Titanic.... SO today I saw that they have been releasing images (capitol photos) of new and old characters for the Catching Fire movie! Figured I would share them with any of my other HG fans! I'm super impressed with all of the characters because frankly they look just like they were described in the book! It is very hard for movies/producers to do such a good job matching characters... Pretty sure they last time they did this well matching characters was with Harry Potter!!

Bunghole....
So some jerk-off decided to take my GPS out of my car today, while I was hard at work... working to make money... to pay bills... to live my life.
I work hard for my things... I have never accepted a hand out and anything money that has been loaned to me has been returned in due time.
I called the cops and they told me to call n report it at some 800 number... glad the little people matter! It wasn't a fancy GPS and we had our fights over recalculations and what not, but we always got to our destination around the time we were supposed to... I have had it for almost 10 years... and NOONE has ever given it a second glance...
Makes sense because it was a cheap Garmin... had very many signs of use... a scratch on the screen which made it difficult to push the H button... so I wish them a happy payday of 10 whole dollars... and they had best hope I don't find it on Craigslist... because I'll probably rip you a new one... That is all

No Shoes, No Shirt, Its A Problem
So roommate and the boyfriend(ex) what ever he is are slowly getting back together.. which means things are going back to worse...
He is the most LAZY, disgusting guy I've ever met, this is of course next to one other relatives ex....
Last night while I was trying to eat dinner, he walks down stairs with no shirt on....
Now let me explain myself before I come off as a conceded bitch....
He had complained about me and her (mainly me) not wearing a bra when we are in the house..
So to be nice I started wearing one (even in the morning, which is a BIG pain in the ass haha) or a sweatshirt...
Needless to say that his 21 yr old college beer belly was not a sight I wanted see...
So to that image, that has been BURNED into my mind, I say
If your not gonna wear a shirt around MY house... then I will no longer be wearing pants... Check and Mate....

Customer Service Really Does Make or Break It...
Went to Ulta yesterday and needed help finding a face cleaner that was going to help with my massive stress induced breakout... The man who checked me out was fairly...feminine... but that just made it better. I honestly LOVE gay people, especially gay men. All of my friends are gay/bi and I wouldn't have it any other way! The guy at the checkout counter was amazing... just turned my entire day around. Which proves to me that customer service really is what will make or break any deal. I realize I was just another customer, but the fact that he took time out of his day to make me feel better and laugh, was awesome. Just remember the golden rule "treat people the way you'd expect to be treated".
Truth Be Told...
K so we have all been lied to at one point in our life... Somehow my wonderful parents raised me to not lie... Because of this, I grew up believing that everyone was honest to a fault... I now live with a pathological liar and fall for every story she has to tell.
First it was "I got an internship with the FBI".... no no I know... it gets better!
"I signed a lease to move out in Feb...."
"I got an internship with Rockwell Collins... but dont have the req. degree"
"I'm moving to North Carolina to work in their forensics dept."
"My dog got hit by a car...." no scar... no medications... but 1200 dollars later she can't afford her bills....
So SHAME on me for believing every word that comes out of her mouth right?
but honestly is it my fault for believing everything she says? should I just assume that everything from now on is bologna? Because it is very apparent that if I try to call out any of the lies... she won't admit it.... but its so very stressful to have to live in that type of environment... I apologize to my parents profusely for any lie I may have told about sleeping at a friends when I was really going to drink with friends.... so... is this karma?

Sucky Roommates.... Can't Live With Em...
Unfortunatley, the first year and a half that I have been living on my own, I have had the text book examples of who not to live with, EVER. During my expensive-rent paid life lesson I have learned a few things and like to classify myself as "taught":
1. Pick up after yourself
- Clothes don't belong in the bathroom
- Spill something? For christ sake... pick it up
2. Dishes... Shit doesn't need to soak for a week... I promise, 30 min. tops and that stuck on food will fall right off.
3. You didn't pay for it, DONT eat/use it.
4. Don't hide broken things under/behind the couch... are we 6?
5. When the trash is full... you should probably empty it once in a while
6. One square left on the toilet paper roll.... mom isn't here to change it.
7. If you don't vacuum... don't wear your shoes in the house.
8. Slamming doors when your angry... stops after you move out
9. Do NOT expect your roommates to pick up after or take care of your pets toys, poop or messes.
10. Laundry... belongs in your room in a hamper.
11. If you have a significant other, they should not be hanging out at you and your roommates place 7 days a week, unless they are willing to pay for the water/food/electricity they use.
12. Your living in the real world... life is not going to be convenient any more...
13. Bills... they have due dates... like homework... but you won't get extensions... you get late fees.
14. Don't lie... the truth comes to the surface eventually, because everyone you tell a story about... tends to not know they were a part of it!
15. Just come clean... if something your roommate does pisses you off, don't let it fester in your mind... eventually it will become a tumor and it will explode!
16. The bathroom.... dear freaking god... the bathroom
17. Your roommates belongings do not belong in your room, your car, or your mouth...
18. The shower drain.... no one likes to do it...

A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY
Turned 23!!! 2 years until I can have my quarter life crisis!! Any ideas? I'm thinking.... purchase a house...have a baby...skydiving?
Went out to eat with my family at a hibachi restaurant, my god son and friend were there as well!
Vincent said he doesn't want to go back to that store because they play with fire..
At least the kid is smart about safety!
He also happened to mention that the japanese cook was speaking spanish.... he said this... fairly loud... we then continued to count to 10 in spanish, about 20 times :)
